Accessibility statement
Companion Animal Institution
Effective date:Â 19 October 2026
Â
Companion Animal Institution (CAI) is committed to making animal welfare information and practical resources accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disability.
Â
We recognise that people access, understand and use information in different ways. Accessibility is an ongoing part of developing our website and resources.
Our approach
Â
As we develop CAI, we aim to:
Â
-
Use clear language, meaningful headings and consistent layouts.
-
Make text easy to read through suitable colour contrast and readable formatting.
-
Provide text alternatives for images that communicate information.
-
Support keyboard navigation and assistive technologies.
-
Create downloadable resources with accessible structure and formatting.
-
Consider accessibility when choosing external platforms and tools.
Our aim is to work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. This is a development goal, rather than a claim that every page or resource currently meets that standard.
Â
Website and resource accessibility
Â
Our website and resource collection are being developed. Some content, downloadable documents or external services may have accessibility limitations.
We will review accessibility as content is added and updated, and work to address barriers brought to our attention.
Â
Requesting assistance or another format
Â
If you have difficulty using our website or accessing a resource, please email admin@thecai.com.au.
Â
You can ask for information in another format or let us know what would make a resource easier for you to use. We will discuss the available options with you and make reasonable efforts to assist.
Â
To help us respond, please include:
Â
-
The webpage address or resource title.
-
A brief description of the difficulty.
-
Your preferred format or way of receiving assistance.
You do not need to disclose a diagnosis or medical information to request assistance.
Feedback and improvement
Â
We welcome feedback about accessibility. Your experience can help us identify barriers and improve how we share information.
