The Companion Animal Institution

Rooted in Experience, Driven by Compassion.

Sarah Norton,
Founder of Companion Animal Institution

For approximately 15 years, animal rescue has been much more than work to me. It is something I care about deeply and a responsibility I have always taken seriously.

My experience has been shaped by the realities of foster-based rescue, from animal care, intake and rehoming decisions to supporting volunteers, managing operations and developing practical resources and systems. Throughout it all, my focus has remained firmly on improving outcomes for animals and supporting the people working so hard to help them.

Over the years, I have learned that successful animal welfare organisations need both compassion and structure. Policies, administration and operational systems are important, but their purpose must never be forgotten. They should make it easier to care for animals, support the people around them and make informed decisions that protect their wellbeing.
